Spindle Finishers

Almco Spindle Machines are renowned for their ability to perform high-speed precision deburring, also known as slurry deburring. Almco Spindle Finishing employs rotating spindles within a rotating, media-filled tub to ensure parts receive a uniform finish. They’re built to handle small to medium-sized parts with precise requirements, such as shafts, gears, and components for various industries, including aerospace, medical, automotive, and firearms.

Almco Spindle Finishing machines are particularly effective for parts that are smaller, have tight tolerances, contain hard-to-reach areas, require long finishing times, or cannot be finished by hand. They’re also used where part consistency is critical. The spindle finishing process involves securing the part to a spindle with a fixture, which can be loaded manually or by a robot. The part is then immersed into a tub of abrasive media that rotates rapidly.

As the tub spins in one direction, the spindle rotates in the opposite, ensuring all surfaces of the part contact the media for even deburring. Machines with a Rotary Actuator allow the spindle to pivot in multiple directions, achieving uniform coverage without manual repositioning of the part.  Overall, the synchronized movement of the tub and spindles not only achieves a consistently polished finish but also does so more efficiently than many other finishing methods.
